First of all, when I saw the trailer for SS2, I went "wow", can't wait for it. SS1 was so great. So a do I test run with my choice of mods to see. Overall the quests whent well and I was eager for the chapter 2. Great works there. Thoug I had problem with assignement of settlers and plot not building. Merchant are also not working but maybe it is because of Quick Trade, which I disabled in the new playthrough. So I start a new playthrough, confident it will be great. Out of the vault, getting XP and junks, etc. Four hours of play with no CTD. Then I free Preston and his gang, take them to Santuary, build a recruting beacon and Jake show up. In the middle of his speach, the game crashes. Problem to reload as the game crash on reload. Finally, can restart. Again, build the beacon and Jake show up, build a house, go to Concord, back to Sanctuary, build the farm, build the shed, Old Paul showes up, all is good. Assign the new house to Old Paul, no problem.. Somehow, even if autoassign his off, Old Paul get the new farm, but him be and old scav, I want him to the shed. Nope, the game doesn't want. Meanwhile I build new houses, and even if I have the message saying the ressource is been assigned, nothing is built. I wait and I wait but nothing happen. I have 78 esm/esl/ esp actives, plus F4SE and ENB, so I don't think there should be an overload of scripts running there. Here my load order, maybe someone can help me, cause I really want to play this mod. Thanks for reading me.

I did look at your LO and nothing jumped out as a problem but it does sound like a conflict of some sort.

I suggest you DL Fo4edit as I am not so sure it is with SS2. I'm sure you know how to check for that with just the SS2 related mods enabled.
When starting a new save disable all the other mods, no need to uninstall.
I would make sure none of the settlement modification mods are enabled, they can be enabled later most of the time.

One very minor thing I did note that has nothing to do with the issues you seem to be having. Better settlers might work better if you flip two of the patches.

BetterSettlers.esp=1
BetterSettlersCCAPack2.0.esp=1
BetterSettlersFacesOnly.esp=1
BetterSettlersMostlyFemale.esp=1

The author suggests:

Like I said, not really pertinent to your issue here.

Still, if the below works then the CTD is some other conflict:

Fallout4.esm=1
DLCRobot.esm=1
DLCworkshop01.esm=1
DLCCoast.esm=1
DLCworkshop02.esm=1
DLCworkshop03.esm=1
DLCNukaWorld.esm=1
Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp=1
HUDFramework.esm=1
WorkshopFramework.esm=1
SS2.esm=1
SS2Extended.esp=1

I have attached my LO below. I have been using this load order for months now. The last few months as a tester for SS2 and haven't experienced what you are reporting.

Note, I am using many of the mods you are so IDK, but maybe it will help you?

But given the months of testing, I still started with the few mods above. If you can't use Fo4edit then you kind of have to go with trial by error to find what is causing it. I know it is a painful drill.

I'm sorry for the hijack, but is BostonFPSFixAIO.esp needed? Or do you have a mod that adds to downtown? With i5 6600k and GTX 1070, i get small dips. If I have anything more, I know my save is trash.

On another note, where's the ASAM CLUB???????

So a do I test run with my choice of mods to see.
I had teething issues as well. In the end I did a complete reinstall and upgraded NMM to Vortex. I can say that I haven't had this smooth of a playthrough since vanilla release. I'm writing it off as a loose file hiding somewhere that was giving me stress for years.

I started my 4th playthrough with very minimal <10 mods. I have been slowly testing gameplay with each one to make sure things are stable. So far I'm up to 15. It's a crap process but its worth it in the long run for stability.

Good Luck! ;)

Nothing being built sounds like a resource issue. Make sure you have tons of scrap available, and click 'Start Building' from the plot interaction menu. It should explain the resources required to build.

Thanks all for your comments.
But in screenshot3, you can see a few details:
1.Although it shows Old Paul is assigned to a plot, the overlay states no setller is assigned, therefore no ressources will be gathered
2. I can see there is no ressources available for building, but in the SS2 menu, I choose the option "Balance/Building Plan Construction Cost/Off", "Cost/Construction Costs/Building Plans/Off" and Cost/Construction Costs/Plots/Off" so the lack of ressources should not affect construction, no?

Also on screenshot4, you can see Mama Murphy is assigned to the farm (built by Jake), but the overlay shows no one is assigned to that plot. You can see on the status widow (bottom left) and the workshop info bar that no food is produced also. Also, somehow, resources were produced between the two shots even if no one is assigned to production...
I am seriously at lost.

Upkeep is separate from construction costs. You may need to disable upkeep, or throw caps at the problem. Unsure if workshop caps will do, but probably.

I suspect your Resources meter is set to one thing while your actual gameplay is set to another as far as scrap and building material go.

Build a desk, Get that meter up by donating a bunch of junk.
then
Go into mcm and find the Resources under gameplay
set it to
scrap - 1
categories - 4
components - 31

Then set your hotkeys, and set your Resources tab to match.

shit, now I might need to do a video on resources.

Donated bunch of caps and junks but it tooks a while for the junk to shows. But I'm not understanding the MCM part. If I go in the mod config, for MCM, I have only two options which are "MCM position in the main menu" and "menu order". Both in SS2 and WSFW, I don't see a " Resources under gameplay". Still, by playing with the hotkeys, I can see the settlement is producing 6 caps/day (the only house built) and 189 scraps/day (the industry built but not assigned ).

Yes, did that, plenty of material for building, but settlers just don't get assigned. Even tried a different location (starlight drive in), same result.

Decided to start again with only SS2 and WSFW and almost everything works greats. Now I only need to find wich mod(s) causes the problem.
1.Having problem with the HUD showing ressources. I can make it work, showing the 4 categories of ressources and then out of the blue, it deseapeer and I can hit the key I binded one zillion times, it dosen't come back.
2.Although unlocked, the ressources gathering industry (in picture) never wants to built

Yeah, it'd be nice if you could make some sense of what works with what. But unless you spend far more time figuring that sort of thing out than playing the game, it can be pretty random. Good luck.

Click on the ASAM. In the menu there should be a status. Does it say something like "materials requirements?" If so, you don't have the scrap to build it in the workbench. It also won't build if you have 'auto build basic plots' turned off in the settings. Either way if you click the start construction button (if the prior is the issue) it should tell you what materials you are short.

This new system is a lot more complicated than SS1. I'm still learning...

Its actually say "operational". And there is no "start construction" option, which make sense since it is operational.

Ok, after hours of testing, can't find a single (or more) mods which increase the time for SS2 script to execute properly. I guess that over the 4 hours of gameplay I had, some scripts started slowly adding to the load at a point when SS2 could not execute properly. I'm no expert, so its only speculation from my part. As far as I know, there is no huge scripted mod in my list. I'll give it another try.

Oh well, I'm done with SS2. Just finished the quest where you built commercial, recreational, defence et public utility plots. The game dosen't want Lily to have a store. The water utility is manned but procude nothing, the martial plot is manned but provide no defence etc, etc etc. I don't have a tons of mod with huge script, but still SS2 cannot executes its own properly. Something I probably not doing right because it seems there is not a lot of people having that kind of problem. Meanwhile, all the quest are going fine. Too bad, I enjoyed the quest line and the new plots and the added value they added to settlement (when working). Good luck to Kinggath and his team.
