Question 4/4 progress bar not showing up after dying.

I was at maybe 52% and all of a suddent Gunners just kinda spawned near and they absolutely destroyed me. So I reloaded my last save and now the bar is not showing but I did get 2 popups saying that I unlocked plans for Sanctuary and Red Rocket.
So do I need to make a new game or am I safe and it's just working in the background?

Edit: So I was in the federal ration stockpile to kill red tourette or whatever her name is and I stop look what I could modify on my guns after killing her and it just CTD so I reopen F4, reload my save and instantly CTD. So I'll probably just start a new game unless someone as a fix.

While the bar disappears the progress will continual

in 4.0.8 there is a plot that will cause CTD will be fixed in patch 4.0.9 this friday
