Don't we have an Icon for HQ? We have Icons for the other 3 (Vanilla, Outpost, Vassal), through NukaWorld.
I've seen mods do this, not just NW, so yes, it should be possible (easy..? Don't know)

It's easy and cheap to make turrets and water purifiers, so this setting is intended to help balance them with maintenance costs.

Mostly likely it isn't possible. Because the game uses pre-generated models of everything that it shows in the menus. And in the crafting benches/inventory pipboy.

Abernathy could be a separate problem. Have you tried running the Recovery option from the holotape? It will fix Most issues there, but if you've built up the triangle of death, it might be too late...
