I experimented with environment mods with a new character. Made it easier. Mind you I have had a few characters as I tried out over 700 mods now [I stopped counting as it was getting stupid]. Anyhow, one character essentially for each "type" of mod. Helped me find out what I liked and or wanted...

Did you open up NMM and click the tab "plugins"? You will find it there some place. Also the extensions saying if something is an esm or not. Also when you click on a plugin you will see arrows on the top left allowing you to change the position of the plugin as well. Hope that helps :)
