I have used Sim Settlements a few times before, but it's my first time using Project Blueprint and Place Anywhere together. It opens up more ways to get creative, but often what I build just isn't pathable for NPCs. So I started experimenting with the Navmesh Blocks of Project Blueprint. Sometimes it works as intended, sometimes it doesn't. Maybe it's just inexperience, but this trial and error can be time consuming.

So i'm curious : Do you mavmesh your settlements? Or you don't care if NPCs can path to all the special spots you built?

Bonus question : is there a tutorial on the use of navmesh block?

Firstly, those blocks are helpers and not the same as navmesh that's used in the CK. They are mainly for use where npc's get stuck while pathing. Like on a step or the edge of an existing structure. Eg; if you build a stairs up to the roof of RR, the very edge of the parapet wall has a bounding issue and if you build level with it npc's won't path over it, a navmesh block will raise the pathing enough for them to walk over it.

Secondly, the biggest mistake people make is blocking the vanilla pathing that exists in each settlement, when building. Every settlement has it and is indicated by vague natural looking pathways or gateways that if blocked will break pathing throughout.

A lot of base-game items do not have navmesh. They were not meant to be built in workshop mode.

I like Hozsa. He has helped a bunch of authors with Navmesh. Jenncave has some videos also I think.

For the reasons above I haven't had to use the below mod for a while.

I am not sure what this thread was ultimately trying to get too?

So, this post "mod" is simply another tool to help if someone hits a small issue here or there.

Ha! but I sure would not try to something big like a whole settlement.

Actually this might be more helpful.

I guess my title was misleading. I wasn't talking about navmesh in the CK.

I'm in the game, building a settlement, building a path from point A to point B, and find out that NPCs can't actually walk from point A to point B. As I was trying to adapt the path so NPCs could use it, I became curious about what you do in this situation. Do you use various tricks or mods to fix the path, or you don't and stay with something that looks cool but isn't pathable.

Raybo's suggestion of Hozsa's mod is a good example of what I'm deeling with. As I understand, the item "Navmesh Block" in "Project Blueprint" does the same thing. That's what I was using.

Since I posted the poll, I decided not to bother with working paths in my settlements. But if I find a simple way to fix them, I'd be happy.
