Hi got to start by saying great amazing mod or combination of mods. work is incredible but seriously having an issue. started a playthrough did when freedom calls, blah blah got to sanctuary. building up settlement which I know is against advice. Keep crashing at a specific point if I load back it doesn't crash until that time OR it crashes as soon as I leave sanctuary walking towards red rocket OR it also crashes if fast travel using console to diamond city and also back street apparel.

Tried on a new save same happens when fast travelling.

Disabling all sim city mods and associated add ons has been only way to stop crashes which is really counter productive as I have really only brought the game of year edition to play this mod so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi thanks for taking the time yes I do. Making sure I update all the time. I have almost definitely narrowed it down to sim settlements. with all addon packs it seems to crash and unable to even walk to red rocket. fast travelling anywhere seems to be a no no. not got the best knowledge with modding

Hi, @Matt_Tiz

Building up, Sanctuary is fine. I don't use a CP there nor do I maximize all three locations in the triangle of death. All three is the recommendation to not build-up, particularly at once.

Below is my basic troubleshooting methodology.

index.php

You can post your load order and maybe someone will see something?
Tell folks what Mod Organizer you are using.
Below is how to get that so you can post it if you are using a MO like vortex.

For me, SS is normally the safest mod in my LO. I would reverse my testing from what you are doing. I would use SS as the base up to the point the "game glitches or was glitching." See what happens; then, add mods back in until the glitch can be duplicated? If that is possible in your game.

As-is, look at the troubleshooting diagram above. Restate what you have tried and post a load order.

Wow that looks like some formula. Thanks for your detailed response. I have previously assumed Sime settlements is very safe for load order especially as its so popular. I have no idea if its the recent add ons I got for plots of the sim settlements website which directed me to nexus. maybe its clashing with the mega pack. Disabling each one individually now to see which it is

The main crash happens when travelling via console to diamond city or anywhere nearby like backstreet apparel. I am using NM and this is the load order. I am using diamond city expansion but this is not the issue. it works. I initially thought It was outcasts and remnants but I am no sure

It is possible to try an duplicate that glitch i'm trying to now but it seems if I disable sim settlements ican fast travel to area if not I cant :( thanks again for help much appreciated

Is the SimSettlements.esm the 3n1 or just SimSettlements?

Did you or have you built manually or used a CP.

Sorry to sound like an idiot what is a CP? Using Loot if that helps but don't understand its uses

I click on the sim settlements in load order and it says Mod Sim settlements 3 in 1

Sim settlements ESM
Gonna try your formula

Ok, I am not trying to be rough on ya, but this load order is a giant mess with too many complicated mods that each author's page needs to be read and understood.

You need to google "Loot" it is an application that will help sort load order. Start here.

For me all the weather and texture mods are a problem.
WOTC is a no-go
Start-meup in in the wrong spot and always an issue
Horizon is an advanced level mod to use with SS
All Settlements Extended AIO will always lead to problems with City Plans (CP)

For you I think you have "over modded" your game for your current knowledge level.
hahaha, we all do this. But I guarantee you this isn't a SS glitch it is an everything problem. Mostly, user knowledge. I recommend going for a much simpler load order and use this guide: Don't bother right now with all the texture packs just try to use the general LO.

Or even better for your load order:

At first blush below are things that I see that are potential problems. There is likely many more.

if i were you i would remove and delete wotc - it doesn't work. period.
if you want something similar but much more stable, look at all the mods from skk50 on nexusmods.
i'd also kick scrap everything and any other "cleaning" mod into the bin.
you have a shit ton of mods that duplicate things, such as your build menu - you can kick all those to the kerb and use the project blueprints mods from the simsettlements city plan addon - they need to be installed manually or from a file via your mod manager - but they should give you more than enough settlement building objects.
settlement keywords is long since abandoned - i'd kick that and anything that needs it into touch as well.
simsettlements and horizon and startmeup is gonna be a challenge. do you really NEED them? if you do, then i'd suggest that your first goal is to mod the game so that its stable - so that you get a feel for and an understanding of modding - and then - when you're more comfortable with how this all fits together bring in those mods - but as @RayBo advised - startmeup causes a shit ton of issues.

yeah, big miss. I forgot to highlight scrapeverything. Thanks for pointing that out too.

Thanks for your reply. you are right yes but I was sure I could get it working. is WOTC complete no no il get rid now but thought it added to the game.

maybe all sets extended is causing the issue. Regardless I have uninstalled all the mods. There seems to be a few plug ins left so going to see if I can build from that and test with sim settlements and conqueror being on there. That sample load order looks good actually but it doesn't have conqueror

Yeah just seen the other response I'll do all of those things now. I don't need Horizon just heard it was great at adding survival elements to the game. if sim settlements isn't generally used with it il give it a miss. cheers for all your help didn't expect such a response

what you can do is make a 'strategy' of what you want to do with your game.
@RayBo has an excellent post called 'baking a save' which is a good reference point, and @Whisper has done a whole series of posts about modding games. you can find these here - read them, i promise you'll be better for it.
when you make a strategy of what you want to mod your game for - it will help you to cherry pick the mods you want/need.
the idea would be to make a stable game first and foremost, then enhance that stable game with mods that will give you additional things to play through without causing your stability to fade.
its a challenge because you're basically fighting a very flaky game engine but it is doable.

bake a save - https://www.simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/bags_2-0-bake-a-game-save.11773/
load order & plugins - https://www.simsettlements.com/site/index.php?threads/load-order-and-plugins-an-exploration.11318/

stick with this and report back to us - i swear there are so many posts on these forums where people have come to ask for help and have left with stable games that work! there are good people in these forums who have been through what you're going through now - and speaking for myself - i've broken well over 100 games modding and adding more and more mods - and finding out things - in a way its a metagame....

The other thing is the enhanced settlements of Horizon - where you can go to the bridge and restore the houses/bridge etc.... doesn't go with AIO/SS very much at all... Horizon can be played with SS... just don't use the enhancements - especially in Sanctuary....

And as all the others have said....

John

and the guy above - @MrCJohn - you want start up games? he is the don of start up games. he's made an entire set of start up mods on nexusmods - pick the one you want, install it - boom you're away. give his mods a look - well worth your time and attention.
between @RayBo, @Whisper, @MrCJohn, the main man himself - who i'm too respectful of to tag and a litany of others in these forums, they've made my fallout 4 game amazing - they're brilliant folks who share so much.

Cheers all, will at those mods just dropped start up now as out of the shaky ones you refer to that is the least favourable.Cheers for that baking a save looks interesting.saw a file on sim settlements conqueror prebuilts might go for this just seen its John's aswel so obviously its good.
completely dismantled my mod list and going from A. got 58 plugins on including all sim settlements so its obviously not that being the issue. thanks for suggestions lot to learn obviously. Checking johns mods out now.

Baking a save looks the way forward in terms of longevity. are you saying I don't bake il end up running into problems somewhere

Thanks brilliant help all what a great community

The baking a save isn't mandatory. I put it as "if you avoid problems" you will not know if you would have ran into them. But yes. It helps avoid issues.
like-
If you start a game with too many mods it won't start.
I try to separate it so all the scripted mods are not all trying to run at once. Also, some could conflict with the pre-built screen preventing the script from running. Some mods will not add inventory items like halotapes if added while inside the vault.

I like letting the prebuilt city plan process run to completion either before or after other mods have run.

Over time, you will learn what works best for you. It won't be the same for everyone.

I have even changed my own process just haven't had time to publish a Redux.

Now I am doing the pre-building early again "at the very start" with the fewest mods and "ALWAYS" building any prebuilt CP to level 3. My game Really likes it this way, but I really know the mods I am using.

There are lots of ways to skin a critter. Each user kind of needs to take in all the suggestions and test in a way to discover what works best for them and there game and the mods they wish to use.

Start with something small and manageable, add stuff later.

The one BIG golden rule:
Practice good mod discipline by "Never uninstall mods after a game has started." Testing is fine, adding is ok, but if you decide it isn't for you, you must ROLLBACK to a save that is before installing the mod.

It may be 20hours later but uninstalling/disabling more likely than not it will bite you and then you will assume it is any mod that you disable is the fix. When what really happened was you broke your save file 20 hrs ago and it is just manifesting its ugly head now.
