Question Building Exterior Agricultural Plots?

What's the best way of building Agricultural plots in terms of materials and terrain leveling?
Sure, the smaller number of interior plots are exempt to such requirements.

But exterior 2x2 and 3x3 plots seem to either require level terrain--which quite often needs Clay for terraforming (wherever that resource is supposed to come from--have never seen it in store inventories, or anywhere else!), or foundations of wood or concrete. But a foundation could really kill immersion, right?

Just saw a Coffee Bean (silt bean) 2x2 plot that comes in two versions--one of them can be put above other structures (hydroponics?); but for other plots this could be immersion-killing.

Any help/advice on maximizing food, fun, and profit for exterior Agribiz would be most appreciated.

Just a suggestion as it will give you a lot of choices. :good

I'm pretty sure you can turn off the resources required to build plots, but otherwise you can buy clay etc from some (general) vendors like Myrna in Diamond City.

There are plenty of agricultural plots which will work with a foundation, even concrete or wood. Like that Coffee plot, which only grows beans on its own raised platform, greenhouses as well. Or the plots from Ruined Homes and Gardens. Those also work on a slope, though not too much of a slope. As uituit said, the mud farms are probably the best for steep slopes.

Not to mention they are ESL tagged ESP plugins - which basically means "FREE"

You could also add a foundation for the plot through the ASAM-sensor, Customize Plots/ Foundations. At least I think it works for the agricultural plots too, but I have to check next time I’m in game. For me it’s free, but as rizzla says, that can depend on your settings. I like the gravel one. Or if you have Industrial Revolution (or the 3-in-1) you could build an Advanced Industrial Excavation Pit, that will generate clay and the other resources.

Yeah, I left out the “free build” option in workshop plus.

that is a great option.
