Question Armory equip unequipping personal guard

Hello folks,

First post for me. I have two members in my personal guard, and I've outfitted them manually with better gear. In the soldier menu, I've turned the auto-equip off. Often (but not always), when showing up in an outpost, my guards will doff all their equipment when the local armory runs its equip script, and I'll have to 'trade' with them to re-equip their clothes and armour. (When this happens during Defend missions, it usually works out poorly for the guards.)

Any ideas on this one? Seems like a bug to me.

KG said before the armory overrides. So, you have to be careful when you approach an outpost. I’ve found that the script doesn’t override weapons and head gear. Not sure why not.
 
I noticed that about the weapons (didn't notice the headgear at the time). Whatcha mean, "KG said before the armory overrides"? Did he post about this somewhere?

I asked somewhere and he indicated basic armory overrides whatever the PGs have manually equipped. Forget where. Turning the armory off though... should work but it’d mean no faction troops would upgrade

I turned off the armory equip on my personal guards (in the manage menu on the NPC) and it has never tried to give them anything in the 50-60 hours into the save.
 
Okay, so ran into this message.

Your personal guard has been equipped by the armory.

Well my HQ has a level 3 armory (which is home for guards.) The personal guard have armory off. The armory in the settlement was only level 2 I think.

Remembering this topic I checked their inventory and nothing was added or taken away.
 
The inventory of my guards is unchanged, except that they are always given Molotov Cocktails (which I always take back so they don't set themselves on fire again). Their equipment is mostly unequipped, but not all.

Below is a screenshot after arriving at my main outpost, and having the personal guards equipped by the armory.

When I first noticed it, it happened every time I arrived at my main outpost, but not at my second one. At that time, the main Armory was at level 3, and the other one was at level 2. Now that both outposts have level 3 armories, it happens every time.
