City Leader Desk and power possibilities

I enjoy the settlements that build themselves but I have problems locating the City Leader desk, It would be great if the location had signage of it's location. I had read elsewhere on the forum you should not add any buildings until the settlement reaches level 3. As far as power I have also read that you do not string wire or connect anything that is not part of the settlement build as it will adversely effect the settlement and can cause game crash. I think as far as power being a wireless settlement a creation of a tesla tower that will be upgraded as the city evolves to another level also after level 3 is reached it could be upgraded further, a wireless power reciever would also need to be used. Perhaps the "box" used for internal plots or something new would be created. I would love any feedback !!

As a settlement evolves from one level to the next placing a logistics station is very iffy because the evolving plots might build on top of your build. Perhaps making the ground area reserved using traffic barriers or something so you cannot build there would help immensely.

About the power part, one thing a absolutely love for SS are the power poles. Up here in the Commonwealth we have the wooden poles everywhere. The upside for the game is that they draw a lot easier. Plus they are higher and you can space then further apart. This shot is from Nordhagen...... ENH20181209192133_1 by Jim S, on Flickr

any idea how you can judge the radiation area of each pole? do different types of poles have a different range of radiation ? when placing a pole could you have a visual range so you know you are placing it within range to connect to another pole and that it will power a building completely ? perhaps a blue or yellow field projected around the pole when placing it perhaps to simplify the best location to place it ?

City Leader desk, I would LOVE to see the IDEK's Logistics Station option incorporated into an option for the basic build of all settlements, sort of like using the HUD. One thing a settlement needs is support when starting out or needing resources. Also we might see some settlement builds that would have no farms only commercial, industrial or maybe entertainment plots. Imagine a settlement being an entertainment, industrial or commercial settlement that would require food or perhaps water as well on a permanent basis provided by other settlements.

I don't know exactly. But what I do for a structure that I build is to use a x3 radius wall post from this mod....https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13394/? That two story house I built for Mac at Nordhagen has one of those roughly in the center just under the roofline. I've found out that using the larger strengths like x5 really killed my FPS..... YMMV. :sad

The rest of the pier has 3 poles along it's length. The light that is right by the stairwell is powered from the house, but I put a pole nearby anyway because the wire would not reach. There's another light post in the corner where the bend in the pier ends. That one is wired and fed directly from a pole. IRL, this would be serviced by a conduit on the side of the pier. I may do that in the near future. The pier itself is built from the G2M mod and is roughly 2x 18 sq where it starts near the bridge, takes 4 sq to go around the bend, plus a 4x 12 section at the end. Bring lumber & steel if you do something similar. :heat

What I normally do for stuff like this is to hold an electric lamp at night. When the light goes out, I install a pole, and repeat untill I get to the next spot or end. I still have a bunch to do on it, so there will be more pics coming. :yes3

During my last playthrough, I found that setting up the IDEK building straight away is a huge help getting the settlement up and running. Yes you have to waste a settler to do it, but the benefits outweigh the rest.

Having specialized settlements isn't a bad idea. Thing is, at the moment most things can be shipped around except for entertainment. And you still need all the other normal needs filled as well.

Hey parrotheada1a, I always love it when you post pictures of your most excellent compilations. Often I immediately recognize the mods you are using. I think we have many similarities in the mods we like, but.....

Which mod is the ladder from?
and does it work?

I thank you sir. I think it's from G2M, but I'll get back to you on it when I know for sure. After I placed it, the use icon came up.... thing is, I've never been able to climb up. I think it's because the base is a few rungs lower.

same method I use in the vault. . . . carry a lamp or tv and when it goes out place another power receptacle.
