Old Post Industrial Revolution Tech Tree Discovery *SPOILERS*

Ughh, getting really frustrated with the Solar Tower "quest". Spent several days exploring every little vague clue instead of playing the game, and still nothing. Starting to remember why I always ended up hating the point and click adventure games.
  • Have powered up Solar Tower with 10+ aligned Large Solar Panels.
  • Have the decrypted schematic for the C-finder.
  • I have the Synced Micro Transponder.
  • Have the Archimedes Uplink Codes from Poseidon.

Completely stuck at figuring out how to craft the C-finder...

  • It cannot be crafted at Chemlab or City Planner desk in any Settlement.
  • Original C-finder was a custom Alien Blaster, but there are no craftable modifications to any of the Alien Blasters in weapon benches.
  • C-finder is mentioned as the prototype in the Solar Tower terminal. Resembles a toy gun(fits with original) and was manufactured offsite. Terminal also mentions military and some "Program .......". This fits with Wilson Atomatoys and Project SCYTHE. Have ransacked both the Wilson factory and HQ, tried loading schematic into every terminal. Even tried Arlen's terminal at the Slog, in case he is the "craftsman" mentioned: Nothing.
  • Have loaded the schematic holotape in terminals at various plots: Solar Tower, Advanced weapons, Body Armor Tech, Observatory. Nothing happens.
  • Entertained the idea that the Observatory terminals observations could be hints(seems illogical though as only link is that it has seen some satellites). Getting all/the right messages is a PITA with it being Glitchy and seemingly giving random messages each weekday. So need the Troubleshooting tool, guessing some holotape. Terminal is of RobCo make, but only RobCo location I can think of is the Sales and Service center that comes with Automatron. But SS does not rely on any of the DLCs, so it couldn't be there. None of the other holotapes given by the mod works, and cannot find any more in any plots. Also tried various holotapes from the main game, but none work.
  • Tested to see if C-finder could be crafted with Contraptions manufacturers(even though SS does not rely on DLCs) but nope.
Am I missing something obvious(to Kinggath at least)? Are there actually any logical clues as to where to go next from here, or does it rely on some random discovery/encounter somewhere out in the world?

i'm stuck on the same part.

What’s the codes again? I haven’t played for like a week and I’m at Poseidon energy but now I don’t remember why.

You get the uplink codes from a terminal in the flooded sublevel. Exactly how to use the codes is still unknown, but I am guessing they are a requirement of using the C-finder to call down the strike.

RE: Observatory - it's not glitched. There's a pattern to it.

Everything needed is within the plot buildings, the few things you get out in the world will also be hinted at through things you acquire within the plot buildings. No random encounters are involved.

Two things:

1. I moved this thread back to General - not sure why it was moved to Archive...

2. I'm going back through the quest now to make sure something didn't break in the last few patches. We tested it extensively before release of 3.3.0, but there's always a chance a patch change had unintended consequences.

Given how close a lot of you guys are - I think that might be the case. Will update again if I find anything malfunctioning.

UPDATE: Testers are reporting that something is now missing, yet still works in earlier saves. So getting closer to confirming that suspicion.

Working on a fix now. Once I have it, I'll post what it was (thought about just PMing those of you who are working on it - but I figure your goal is going to be to post the solution here anyway - so let's skip the middle-man lol) Apologies to everyone who have been banging their heads against this!

UPDATE 2: Looks like the problem was introduced with the last patch. When I cleaned the file to eliminate vanilla edits, it also broke the persistence on our friend Cue, who is instrumental in the C-Finder discovery. In the next patch, refresh your Advanced Weapons plot and he should correctly appear once again.

Well now I’m really confused. The terminal won’t do anything. Can’t remember why I went here but I assumed if I wanted to go here that I did whatever made it so that I wanted to.

If you have the "Archimedes Uplink Codes" holotape in your inventory, I think you are done with that terminal at Poseidons.

Oh that could be it then. Thought I was here because I didn’t do anything here yet but maybe I’m here because I was done already

Updated my post again. Looks like the problem was introduced in the previous patch, so depending on what plots you had built prior to that patch, you may actually be able to press forward now - as I just revealed a little bit of info above. If you were unfortunate to be affected by this bug, you'll have to wait until Friday's patch for a fix.

Trying to do the medical plastics quest - I was messing around with the mixing station; whenever I put a Dirty Water in it, my game immediately locks up, memory usage spikes, and it ultimately goes unresponsive so I have to kill the process and restart FO4. Is that a reproduceable issue for any of you all? Am I barking up the wrong tree anyway? Every other substance I've tried it just spits back out at me after a second.

Edit: Hmm, only does this if I haven't successfully solved the fuse puzzle upstairs (misunderstood and had 100A total per area but without all slots filled). Guess it's an irrelevant issue in the long run.

I'll still add it to my list to investigate - seems like a strange thing to cause a crash...

ok, i dont know if it's a joke but, the observatory found a probably sattelite doing morse code.

the translation (that i found) is : STUCKUPHEREPD
I have my own theory about that "Red Star" as the terminal calls it. From what I have decoded the message when both parts are put together is "Stuck up here please send help" there may be some minor translation error at the end of the stuck up here part. Anyway what if this "Red Star" is not a satellite ,but actually the the flashing light placed atop tall buildings to keep planes from hitting them.
How did you manage to get the terminal to do anything but the same uninformative stuff about the moon, black holes, horoscopes etc? I tried different weathers with the advanced weapons plot, but still nothing. My Observatory is located in Sanctuary where it is practically impossible to sleep/wait(sleep/wait is basically realtime). So it is a major PITA to get different messages.
And still cannot find any trace of the "tool" required to fix the terminal.

For those of you who have been stuck on the hunt for the Euclid's C-Finder, one piece was bugged in the 3.3.3 patch (was available before that, but I did something dumb when I cleaned the file for that release). Should now be available again, so read the spoiler below to find out what it was.

HINT: Cue is now restored and can be found at the Advanced Weapons Facility, if you don't find him there, try refreshing the plot. He will only show up at one of those facilities, so if you have multiple, check them all.

So, finally managed to finish the Solar Tower quest. All the steps are now described in the spreadsheet comments.

However to anyone attempting to solve the puzzle without(many) spoilers, I thought I would give a few pieces of non-spoiler advice to save for many wasted hours down dead ends:
  1. The whole quest is a lot simpler than it appears. If you think you have to solve semi cryptic puzzles, then you are probably headed in a wrong direction. It is much more a scavenging hunt for items/objects/NPCs through the various plots of the mod, than it is a cryptic puzzle that needs to be solved.
  2. On many occasions the various flavour texts in various terminals got me convinced that I had to look for something out in the Commonwealth. There is only one such occasion, and there will be MANY hints available for that one from multiple sources.
  3. The Observatory terminal strongly hints(to me at least) that it needs to be fixed, which I assumed was part of the quest. As far as I know that is purely flavour text and no such fix exists(yet?).
  4. Many of the daily notes in the Observatory terminal seems to contain hints to a larger puzzle. It is, as far as I know now, purely small jokes, pop references and flavour text. Just keep coming back and be aware of your inventory.

Ahhh... could be because I’m trying to look at it on iPad, but nothing shows up on Solar Array tab. Have to check it later.

Doing the Weapons Research Assistant quest.

Spoilers (sorry, can't see how to hide things with this editor)

The first weapons signature it asks for is from the Glowing Sea. Ok, I see from the notes that I can be asked for the signatures out of order, so I went to the Glowing Sea, made sure it said it detected a signature, picked up the receiver again and.. nothing happened. Tried a few times in different parts of it.

How do I progress?

Soo... I haven't seen this anywhere as of yet, but does anyone know what the Glowing Crystal from the Iron Mines is used for (besides scraping for Crystal)? I got a pop up saying witht eh right tools, I could make a mine more of it... o.o

Edit: Added some pictures.
