Closed There is a mod conflict!

S.S. is not compatible with crowded commonwealth and plenty'o'exploration mods it will cause any settlements near the added locations to ctd in certain areas try every load order combination i could still has the same effect no matter what.

Mod conflicts isn't really a bug. No mod author can be expected to test his/hers mods with all the possible combinations out there, or take responsibility for them to work together. But good to know.

Yeah i did this for anyone that might be suffering from similar issue thought it might help cause I've seen some post on other websites about the same issue i was having and thought this might help someone else out.

Just FYI, it may not necessarily be a "conflict" so much as "both mods add a lot of fairly processor heavy stuff". Which isn't a conflict at all, but a modding choice.

Mods that add interiors to places like Concord or Hangman's have a track record of causing pretty heavy load in and around Concord, for example. Put on top of that the load from a mod like SS and it's associated plots and I wouldn't be surprised to see a marked increase in crashes in that area.

The one that adds more NPCs has the same issue, the more AI/Actors there are to deal with the harder things get for the engine. So if you have 2 mods that are adding a bunch of actors (Crowded Commonwealth and the Visitors + Settlers from SS), again you're going to start seeing issues, especially where the two intersect.

I'm pretty sure its a conflict cause whenever they're installed every settlement I go to crashes when I uninstall them the settlements work fine what I uninstalled SS and go there with only those mods active it worked perfectly fine so it's only being affected when both mods are installed so I'm not sure but I think that's a conflict?

The best way to determine if it's a conflict, will be for someone to be able to repeat it. A lot of times its either save file, or load specific. For example, it could be that actual problem is SS, plus those two mods, plus some other mod you have. Or it could be that character's saves can no longer handle all three.

You could test if it's your character by seeing if you can start another character with all the mods enabled without it crashing. The load order thing, we'd probably need to find someone else on Xbox to try installing all three and see if it breaks for them as well.

Ok did whatcha said and had my friend try it on his game also I'm almost 100% sure its a conflict friend had same exact issues i had he couldn't go to any of his settlements and he has been playing with the same exact mods active since mods became available on xbox its something to do with the settlements that are close to any of the areas crowded commonwealth and plenty'o'exploration adds to the game there must be a file in each of them thats effecting the settlements that are near those areas?

I just tried the Plenty'o'exploration mod on PC. That worked fine with SS. Can't try the other though as it's a Xbox unique mod. But I did throw in Beantown Interiors as well. Worked fine. Alone and combined with plenty'o'exploration. Been running around all of Concord, Red Rocket and Sanctuary.

Plenty'o'exploration did add some kind of base with watchtowers and stuff on the hills/stone (west of the road) between Red Rocket and Sanctuary.

Might be a computing power kind of thing like Kinggath suggested.

Thanks for the info. If anyone else reading this has a good or bad experience with these mods, or a bad experience with other mods and Sim Settlements, please report it. There's no way for Kinggath & co to test all combinations out there, so we rely on user feedback on conflicts.

I've been playing with SS and Plenty 'o' Exploration on xbox. Admittedly, my game crashes all the time. But I haven't noticed any reliable patterns except that it almost always happens in exteriors, usually in East downtown Boston where there are a lot of buildings and AI, or in a large custom-built settlement where there are a lot of NPCs and SS plots. Basically, places where it would make sense for the game to crash.

That said, I've seen pretty much everything to see in Plenty 'o' Exploration already, so I'll try disabling it and see if that helps at all.

East downtown Boston is known resource heavy area where you'd typically see FPS drops. If you are close to [mod] overloading your machine, bad things would probably happen to you in that area.

After seeing this post i was quite curious of my self to see if there were any issues regarding CCW, POE, and S.S. With that being said, i've tested hundreds of mods, i've gone through plenty of load orders since the oblvion days. With that being said im no expert at all, just an amateur who enjoys utilizing mods in game. Moving away from that lets talk about the compatibility at hand. To say S.S is incompatible with any of those mods is politically incorrect. As another user has stated it taxes the system and puts stress on it considering how much the engine is being utilized in that particular area. So i had recent crashes near the finch farm area and i've checked my mods and haven't been able to figure out why. I stumble across this post and test it out my self, i tested it out for a good day and came to the conclusion that you cant use crowded commonwealth with sim settlements if you want to be able to sustain stable game-play in the finch farm area. So without crowded commonwealth and just sim setttlements it runs perfectly fine. So if anyone is having further issues, i would disable either or and continue to enjoy your play-through, and no offense to crowded commonwealth but sim settlements is the best damn mod ive ever used hands down so that's staying permanently.

I have both installed and never had any crashes near Finch Farm or elsewhere in the commenwealth!!
Are you PC or other system?

I have used the PC version but in the past year i switched to xbone for unrelated issues. Idk if its the taxing mixed with ROTC and the industrial mod that adds to it. It might be an addition to those two, but i switched all of them out and ran around the area numerous times and had crashes only when both were installed. Ill attempt to remove ROTC and industry to see if those add to the crashing, but for all intents and purposes it appears strongly that they don't handle that area well together. I know its not a load order issue, i always kept CC near the bottom of my load and sim near the top.

Xbox is fairly limited compared to a high end PC. So it might well be an overload issue for Xbox users and mid to low end PC users.
