Accidentally killed Treadwell :(

I didn't know he was part of a quest. Landed at Croup Manor to defend it from a swarm of ghouls and started firing away. Killed a big robot, too! Then this guy, Archibald, comes up and says he has a delivery and walks away. Oh man...what did I do? What can I do?

So Treadwell and Archibald are part of a settler quest and some radiant quest for unique furniture. if they're dead then, it's fine, you just don't get those side quests, nbd the game goes on just fine without them.

i personally think treadwell and archibald are cool characters, but the quests they give are kinda same-y and fetch-quest-y (they're radiant quests, so that's kinda exactly how they have to be), so net net you're probably not missing out on much except for their cute banter around your favorite settlement.

You could try and resurrect her, there is a chance it won't break their quests. Doesn't break the radiant ones, anyway. You can always load an earlier save as well. I honestly love Treadwell and I'd reload every single time but those gunner attacks got really out of hand.

Thank you both for your replies. Unique furniture is appealing but I've built a 3-story place at Warwick (looks super cool, if I may say so) before I met Archibald and realized my mistake. So reloading an earlier save...I just can't bring myself to lose all that progress. Good to know it's not stopping HQ progress or something super important. Thanks again!

Oof. Well, there must be a console command for resurrecting her, if you choose to do that. On xbox I'm using a mod called Lazarus project or something that spawns a resurrect gun in home plate. It's being used a lot since spamming plasma grenades results in a lot of casualties.

Hi Antoine, I searched around and found this on PC Gamer: "Alternatively, select a dead NPC with the console open and just type 'resurrect.' " Sadly, it didn't work. Maybe if I had Treadwell's ID? A search only turns up real people named Treadwell that worked on New Vegas.

Dead settlers stay forever in my games, dunno if that's a thing for everyone. There should be a command for getting someone's id, not sure if it works on dead NPCs. Or maybe someone could drop it here. But it's not the end of the world, we all do things like this then try and fix it in the next game. I gave the Slog to raiders once :/

Just to see if it works, use the console again, but this time try "recycleactor" then "resetai". "Resurrect" doesn't work if the damage is too great(like dismembered or another ref with more damage was used for visual effect). If I remember right, putting a "0" after "resurrect" like "resurrect 0" will bring them back with their current inventory.

Ok, so I found out how to get the ID: With console open, click on the whatever-is-dead. Tried "resurrect (ID)[EP]" ...not sure what EP in brackets means and maybe I should've left that off, but game ctd. Tried it without the EP part, game still ctd. Maybe I don't need the parentheses. Will try that.

Edited to Add:
00000014 is the ID

Results:
resurrect 00000014 caused crash to desktop
resurrect (00000014) caused crash to desktop
resurrect (00000014)[EP] caused crash to desktop
recycleactor had no effect

Isn't 14 the refid for the player? Try getting closer to the TreadWell when clicking on him in console mode. Sometimes I have a hard time doing that here depending on the geometry.

Hey! So I stood right on top of him and got 0b01fff8 then PP in brackets. Tried "resurrect 0b01fff8" (no quotes) and it says: Unknown variable for parameter integer, compiled script not saved! I'm at a loss. I appreciate your help, though

Update: I tried recycleactor (with console open and Treadwell clicked on: things I didn't do before) and Treadwell's body disappeared immediately. Maybe this means good things!

If you still have the refid when your in console(if not just enter "prid <whatever his refid was>" ), try 'moveto player". Hopefully, that will bring him to you. You don't need the [PP] or anything else in brackets, just the refid.

I have "Feral Nights" installed and every now and then they'd swarm Diamond City Market place tearing the inhabitants to shreds- there was arms, legs... stuff everywhere. "resurrect 0" didn't work because they were dismembered(guessing on this one), but "recycleactor" did. I also did a "resetai". Though when they 'recycle' I think it spawns them back to their original 'home' location, not where they were when you executed the "recycleactor" console command.

Sometimes the Ref ID of a NPC will not show correctly on the screen, even though you clicked on it. Its because something else is in the way even though you don't think it is. Things like kneeling and positioning the camera so that there are no words or anything over trhe NPC can help. If you click Treadwell and the correct Ref ID appears, which in your case 0b01fff8, then type resurrect 1, it should bring the NPC back to life. The "0b01fff8" needs to be in the above center of the console window. If you open the console window and type "prid 0b01ff8" hit enter. It will make the console window focus on that Ref ID.. Now type resurrect 1 and hit enter. The NPC will be revived. Ref ID 14 is the player character, which is what made the game crash.

"Feral Nights" sounds like my college days lol...sounds fun and a dash ew. Question: Were you still targeting the thing when you did resetai? Thanks so much for all of your help!

Great info, thank you! Had no idea I had to have the console open to click on Treadwell (or whatever else comes in the future). I'm learning! This community is just so helpful, I'm verklempt!

Hopefully this is my last noobalicious question: I've been to a few settlements and no Archibald or Treadwell have appeared. Can I do a console command to draw them to me? Like player.moveto (refid?)
