PipBoy fails to open display and being stuck the next time after leaving Radio tab

Version 2.2.2a. No mod installed that alter HUD or dialogue. Happened during Old Guns although that was the only time I opened the radio tab (listen to Radio Freedom optional quest stage) since Jake's contact from HQ.

Steps done to recreate:
  • happens after Jake contacts you after convincing Mansfield (according to similar reports)
  • navigating to Radio tab in Pipboy
  • exiting Pipboy with the last tab being the Radio tab
  • opening Pipboy again
  • the animation played afterwards mirror the current weapon equipped at the time

this seems to be a Known Issue. i believe the team is looking into this. for now, a couple of tips:
  1. the console command "player.moveto player" will force you to fast travel to your current location. it breaks you out of animation bugs, stuck scenes, etc. super useful.
  2. this seems to happen most after the HQ radio is unlocked, something about the way that conversation is handled with jake leaving vault 81. we don't seem to have any reports of that happening earlier.
  3. this also seems to happen most if you leave the Pipboy on the FM radio page, i.e. diamond city radio and distress signals. it's not impossible for it to happen on other pages, but it seems to be less likely on inventory, data, or special.
  4. changing your view point (in or out of power armor, 1st person or 3rd person) seems to affect it also. i personally found that backing out of 1st to 3rd before hitting tab would eliminate this issue in cases where i could cause it regularly-ish (like after a save)
