How Do Ban Lists Work

Some of the add-on plot types are too modernistic for my taste. How do I create a Ban List and only use the ones that fit my preferences?

If you build a City Planner's Desk and 'use' the bottom drawer of the cabinet under the desk itself (beneath where you Donate Supplies), one of the options that comes up once you do that will be where you can Blacklist specific designs.
