Patch 3.4.0 - RotC 2.0

I'm guessing that with the optimized city plans built-in now, we can get rid of the beta plans if we downloaded them, yes?

Just because this is a related question and Kinggath put so many things together in that faq... for settlements that you don’t use RotC plans (for example, say you decide only to use city plan for Sanctuary and not do RR and Abernathy), you can still build up RR and Abernathy with SS plots as long as you don’t go overboard. Even on original Xbox I had no problems doing exactly that scenario, as long as I limit the SS total plots per settlement to around 30, which conforms to the 15 settler scheme.

Up to you. If you get rid of them, you'll have to start those over.

There’s no point though right? They’re the same? I mean, apart from being to get rid of the separate mod.

There are probably minor changes to them as we did a lot of tweaking towards the end for balance of power and water.

It sure is - and the first 3 years will be brutal. If you survive it, it's actually rather cool realising that you've made something successful.

Yes, ESPECIALLY when there is lots of competition in the market niche you choose!
Good Luck!
If the business you guys have opened involves 1099 employees besure to have them sign on to a contract and if they are artists, remember that the temperamental nature isnt geared towards you or the business model its just their independent tendencies to think FAR OUTSIDE the box...

I'll genralise this to be more accurate:

If you can stand in a settlement, and see the next settlement - only one of them should be building a city plan at a time.

Red Rocket / Abernathy / Sanctuary can see each other. Several of my modded settlements can see each other. The Castle, Spectacle Island, Boston Airport and Warwick Homestead can see each other.

Personally, I tend to follow the creators intent/design when its laid out. I assume that ppl who are better than myself at determining the limits of their own work would be best suited to expressing usage/application... Now there are those times when I want to "try something", and in those cases I don't expect much insight into issues that arise. I think the Absolute best answer to ANY broadly painted question is always "try it and see".
I can't count the number of times I've created a Hard Save & set a restore point in (Windows 10) just because I "Wanted to see what would happen if I ________"

That is always been a "best practice" step for me...

In the short time I've been playing FO4 on PC, I've found that there hasn't been more than one time that I wasn't able to answer my questions simply by reading what a mod creator posted as potential issues or direct messaging someone who has more experience than me from the pages.
Just my .02¢

Is there a reliable way to tell whether a settlement uses the complex or the optimized plan?

Thanks!

Other than going in and checking to see if the fine detail items are present? Not that I know of.
From what I've gathered from the video KingG posted along with the update and the updates on the Wiki page, If your settlements were built BEFORE the update using Ultra (Designers Choice/Full Detail) settings then your EXISTING settlements should stay the same(Complex). However, you will need to go into the SS settings to turn Complex plans ON if you wish to continue to build using that feature, otherwise, all newly built settlements will by design, build using the less intensive optimized versions. Hope that explains it properly.

If what you meant was "is there a reliable way" to know BEFORE selecting a plan if it is optimized or not, then as I said earlier ALL settlements except Bunker Hill will build with the default optimized version, unless you change the setting to COMPLEX manually.

What does optimized mean? Less clutter?

I sometimes see objects cut through each other when one was placed by the player. Two days ago, I upgraded the Castle to lvl 3 and the plan built a tavern-like building close to the radio tower and the wall cut through the large generator I had built at the beginning to power the radio station.

If I turn the plans to the optimized ones and refresh the settlement, will the rebuilt one be optimized?

Also, are there also new city plans in this version?

So far, I found Spectacle Island missing, as well as Vault 88 and the four Far Harbor locations (though the last two are part of an addon not everyone might have)

I only started using SS and RotC last week and I'm so happy you released the optimized plans. I had Tenpines as normal just to see how the computer handed it and I was getting crashes trying to fast travel in or get close to it on foot. I think they had/were upgrading it to Level 2. Couldn't remote detonate it either!

Just rolled back to an earlier save when it worked and destroyed it and started it up with optimized. If I have to keep my chosen RotC settlements at Level 1, so be it!! But I'll see how they go and make sure cities are on manual upgrade and make lots of saves. Haha!

Love these mods!! :)

Open your city management software holotape and deactivate the automatic upgrading of the city. That prevents those crashes when they to it automatically. Also, if you upgrade a city manually and the game crashes, deactivating the cinematic mode usually helps.

I usually have cinematic mode on when upgrading to watch what happens but in a lot of settlements, the game crashes to desktop (sometimes the animation stops moving and I have to task manager kill it) but without the animation, all you have to do is wait inside the city borders until you get the message that the building limit recalculation has finished.

Yup! My cities are now on manual upgrade, but my plots are still on auto. I haven't noticed anything bad from having level 3 plots. I also disabled the cinematic view! I didn't really like it anyway.

The game selected Ultra settings for me so I was surprised I couldn't even get to Level 2. Here's hoping optimized is the solution!!

:)

You might really want to change some settings if you’re on Ultra and crash on Ten Pines. That’s not even one of the more problematic plans. I had the original Ten Pines level 3 without issue on an xbox. If you run into more problems I would say the big things to turn off are auto close doors, clutter, and change visitors to limited.

Less complicated, and reduced in size. For example, Sanctuary went from 26-ish settlers to 15.

Turn off complex plans. Select take back the city. Then select the city plan, and select the leader. They will tear everything down, and build the optimised plan.

Technically, all the optimised plans are new plans ....

There is a third party Spectacle Island plan made, and currently undergoing testing. It was supposed to be released last weekend, but it demonstrated an unexpected Fallout 4 issue. (The game doesn't load the entire settlement when you are there - so things go missing ...)

Think of the new optimized plans as a totally new plan, like when you download city plans from others like the many cool city plans right above me from Yagisan. When you update Sim settlements to the new version, and check the available city plans at the city managers desk, it should list the new optimized plans. If you decide to use it, your city plan will start from scratch.

Also congrats on the update Kinggath and team! Even though I will stick with the complex city plans, I find amazing that you guys always think in everyone and create many performance options so that everyone can enjoy this amazing mod, regardless of their machine. Thank you for your work! :clap:drinks

Hey,
About ROTC and his Sofa King plot, just wanted to know how can I use furnitures ? I've buyed them, transfered them to the workshop, but I never find how to build them in a settlement. I looked on the forum or other platforms but never found any solution.
Someone can help me ?
Sorry for my english..
