Connie Abernathy won't go home?

So I made Connie Abernathy the leader at Red Rocket, changed my mind, and then moved Codsworth there because I found out Connie left her farm. I downloaded multiple addons that give different leaders, and picked her. She wont return back to her farm now, and all I can do with her is trade or barter as she is not a companion. I've searched all over this forum to see if anyone else had issues trying to move NPC's back but found nothing. So I made an account and I really hope someone can help me. Last resort, I can always go and reload an older save, but I really don't wanna do that cuz I have played for at least 18hrs or so since making her leader... Thank you kindly in advance :)

Welcome! We should be able to help you get Connie sorted out.

I want to open with two basic questions so we can home in on the issue. First, are you playing on Xbox or PC (this makes a difference in case we need to use console commands)? Second, have you tried opening the workshop at Red Rocket, highlighting Connie, and using the menu to move her back to Abernathy Farm, as per the screenshot below (you may have already done this, but I want to make sure we eliminate the easy possibility)?

IF Snarkywriter's idea fails... doubt it though cause that was my first thought! hehe
Then..
Build a City Planners desk at Abernathy and assign her as leader. You don't have to choose a City Plan..
OR...
Go tell Blake she's hanging out with Wolfgang over at Red Rocket.. in the office...with the door shut...
He'll bring her home in short order. LOL

Thank you for responding so quickly! I am playing on PC, and I did try to move her with the workshop move button and it said "This person cannot be moved from this settlement". As I am typing this, I also just tried building a city planner desk in Abernathy and made Connie Leader there. It seems to have worked! Can't believe I didn't think of that lol Thank you! Its really weird tho cuz in the addons, it says there are multiple versions of the leaders, which I can see when picking a leader as there is like 6 Connies, 6 Blakes, 3 Codsworths, and etc. Some have 2 traits, some have 3+. And some also made new characters altogether, but I haven't tried that addon yet as you have to manually install. Really weird how there is so many multiples. I might uninstall a few to clean it up.

Also, is it possible to have the same person as leader for instance in Tenpines Bluff and Red Rocket? I have Steve Tenpines as leader at Bluff and when I go to change leader at RR, His name is in the list still. Most likely due to the multiples. I will test it out myself right now. Ill just save beforehand lol I'll post what happened after.

Ok, I think I know what happened with Connie:

RotC’s leader system was designed around making Companions leaders. Normally, Companions don’t start the game attached to a settlement workbench. Connie Abernathy, who is not a Companion, starts the game assigned as a settler to the workbench at Abernathy Farm. By using one of the add-on mods that allow NPCs who aren’t companions to serve as leaders, you were able to assign her as a city leader (I use two myself).

So far, so good, right? I assume Connie was physically in Abernathy Farm, probably picking tatos and arguing with Lucy. When you assigned her to lead at Red Rocket, RotC told her to physically move to Red Rocket and take over. It probably did this by telling her to, from now on, stay within a certain distance of the assigned City Planner's Desk.

However, for whatever reason, RotC did not reassign her as a settler to the workbench at Red Rocket. She was likely still a settler assigned to the workbench at Abernathy Farm. Because of that, when you opened the Red Rocket workbench, it didn’t see her as a valid settler, so it couldn’t reassign her.

By creating a City Planner’s Desk at Abernathy Farm and assigning her as the leader there (nice call, woodfuzzy!), RotC once again told her to physically move to Abernathy Farm, take over, and stay near that City Planner's Desk. Since she never stopped being a settler assigned to the workbench at Abernathy Farm, all is now good.

Hope that makes sense.

It makes sense, except I cant ask any of the Abernathy people to leave their settlement. Not sure if I am supposed to be able to. There are no normal settlers there to try it out on as I don't have a beacon there.

Running multi leader packs, I'm guessing here as I haven't dug into them to check, may cause issues.
But, I do know that having multiples of ANY scripted NPC, Connie, Blake, Wolfgang, Marcy, Amari ect... is not good. Unless.. it's a custom NPC that just uses the same looks.
Meaning they don't have the linking, quests, dialog packages..etc of the original.

Moving a unique NPC ie; Connie, from their original settlement breaks their packages and sometimes, moving them back doesn't fix it. Things like those little banter dialogs the Abernaths have, will never fire and they will just stand around in one spot every time the quest is triggered.
But in all fairness, the Abernathys.. they don't even have to be moved to bug out. LOL
Personally, I used the unique leaders for the settlement they were originally from.

Yeah, I am going to make Blake or Lucy the leader at their farm. I didn't know who to use at RR cuz the only NPC there is Dogmeat. And it's not a huge deal if they are bugged now :p

You actually aren't supposed to be able to reassign them to another settlement, as far as I am aware. I don't think vanilla Fallout 4 will let you move unique settlers who started at their settlement before you acquired it.

They were never meant to be moved.
See, this is what I get for being thorough as opposed to parsimonious. :)

They probably aren't bugged out, assuming I'm right and she was never technically reassigned. The only way to know would be observing them, though.

Ohhh ok. I don't know much about scripts and stuff lol

With one addon, SS Leader Mayors, those leaders show up with "(Mayors)" after the persons name. So that helps a little bit to know which addon they came from, but a couple others I use, I am not sure where they're from. I use Ted's Leader pack, and Leaders of the Commonwealth and Mayors. And just added in the Settlers of the Commonwealth that added some new characters. Hopefully they work. I tried to post a link but I guess I have to be a member longer lol

On Ted's Leaders pack, its says "Users should know that you can have multiple leader mods installed at the same time, NO MERGING REQUIRED - even if they have the same NPCs in them, you simply get two entries (usually) with different traits!"
