If your town scrap requirement is at like say 99% and you send a bunch of scrap back to your settlement using salvage beacons, will they only use a bit of the scrap sent back and send the rest to your workshop or will all of it simply be deleted?

I believe donated scrap disappears forever, so no, excess won't go into the workshop. I don't know if it gets carried over to the next level though -- someone else will have to answer that.

All the extra scrap/food/water gets thrown back into your work bench.
But Armour and weapons you lose forever

Have a look at this as it will explain in detail

Hope the above helps, it explains everything including the fact they also take from your workbench, This is Kinggath's Video BTW :)

another point I would like to add is IDEK's Logistic Station (Level 2 incorporates Salvage Beacons), if you have both mods installed. This also incorporates an automatic donation system for food and water, but not armour and guns.

On top of this, is will distribute supplies, so say:

Settlement One has excess water but not much food and Settlement Two has (Yes you guessed) excess food but not much water.

The IDEK's Logistic Station will Balance it out, Settlement Resource Sharing, amoungst other things it can do.

Hmm, when I donate extra food and scrap locally it get thrown back into my inventory. Salvage beacon supplies excess do go to the workshop though.
