@LeapinL I started its own thread so we dont spam the Fens thread.

Ive suggested some imods n a couple of threads. There are a ton of really awesome mods. Here are a few I consider vital.

Mods
40k Sister of Battle - Adepta Sororitas ; Nice clothing. Excellent armor, has a good melee sword, and comes with a couple of guns. Make sure to get the gun patch or the range is about 20.
Raze my Settlement + Clean my Settlement Redus; When installed together the Raze tape controls both. Scraps junk in a town to varying degrees.
Settlement (Police/Medic/Rapair/Gardener/Tidy) Bots. They add a lot to a Settlement. Esp the repair and tidy. Repair will wander around and auto repair things that are broken like turrets. Tidy picks up bodies and sticks whats on it into its chest.
Automatically Lowered Weapons / Classic Holstered Weapons. These add a lot to my gameplay.
ECO-r (Equipment and Crafting Overhaul - Redux) / LEO (Legendary Effects Modifier / NEO (New Equipment Overhaul) ; Does everything I want in crafting mods. LEO lets you swap legendary effects on weapons and armor. If you put a lot of materials into it you can craft legendary items. It feels well balanced to me :)
Gifted ; Adds a book in Shaun's room to give you the Gifted trait. Or you can download a trait mods. When I can I use them together.
Asuka Officer Uniform ; Lots of neat gear to start the game with right by the intro to 111.
Better Console ; Gives a ton more info on an object when you click on it including what mod it comes from.
Alex's Settlement Power Pylon ; Makes all power sources radiate together across the town.
Underground Hideout ; Adds in an almost perfect player house. You can build its gazbo in one settlement. Underground Hideout - Player Settlement adds a downstairs cave to the place and an enter in the Wildwood Cematary.
Game Programs I think are a must have
Address Library for F4SE
Buffout4 ; It does a lot of stuff but what I know it for is the crashlogs it makes.
Classic VATS ; In most cases it works like FO3 VATS stopping time. The gunplay is tight but my reflexes arent always the best :)
Utility Perks Implants ; Adds in neat abilities. Can hold a Legendary effect from LEO. Most importantly it gives you crafting traits while equipped.
Unlimited Companion Framework ; Like it says on the tin it lets you have as many companions as you like (Well upto 16- and trust me having 16 allies is awful).
Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch ; it patches a ton of bugs.

As you do quests in the game some of the hardest can be sidestepped or just cheated. I look at it this way - I found all the Cappies, Got the Quantum Armor and weapons in Nuka world. I dont feel the need to do the grind more than once. For example the mod 'All The Starcores' gives you a full pile of them in Nuka World Star Control. The 'Cheat Console' mod helps in a bunch of different ways.

Traits Mods:
Traits Rebuilt
Classic and New a Traits Mod
Traits for Fallout 4
Traits and more Perks Beta4
All of them can be run together. The Gifted book mod adds in the Gifted Trait - that one of these mods overwrites.

I just found ''PA Helmetless Paint Effect' Its supposed to let paint effects work with 1 less set item so you can remove the helm for rp :)

Thank you soooo much. I will check them out and see what works with my game.

I had an idea - one mod that really helped me is "Skadi Female Half Super Mutant (standalone companion)" She is green and a great combatant. Found under the Red Rocket. One of the 4 mods that the author made - so you can have 4 extra companions without another mod.

But the key is each of them has a bag that you can craft that holds +700 load. Its not meant for you so it can have some downright weird conflicts but depending on what other gear you have you can equip 4 bags for +2800 pounds. Equipping it might unequip something else. Play around and see if you can find the combo that will let you have both. I typically just run with one anymore. :D

Also they have some cool clothes for them in a unique workbench they each have. Again their not meant for you so they can do some odd things. Like them not appearing on your character and you can stack the categories - so if you could get 8 belts from a companion then the 8 from the other companions crafting wouldnt be much use to me. Still you can stack yourself full of extra armor and a nice fist weapon to craft.

One BIG problem. Do NOT equip the amulet. For whatever reason it replaces your pip boy making you unable to even open the pip boy. If that happens there are mods that can fix it tho.

Interesting, Green is my favorite color. I will have to play around with my other game. Don't want to mess with the current playthrough for SS2.
I did check out the underground hideout and it looks amazing, will definitely add today and see where that goes. Can you safely use Raze my Settlement + Clean my Settlement Redus with SS2?

These are mods I use every playthrough - seven to date. I'm picking the most lore friendly. Mostly.

Utilities - not mods
  • FO4Edit (xEdit because it was originally made for Skyrim) - a mod editor, and can even edit vanilla assets with some hoop jumping. Are your weapon weights, damages and ranges all over the place with the same type and caliber? Balance them by changing a few entries.
  • Wrye Bash - I second that.
Utilities - mods
  • Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch - surely you have this installed. This really is a must-have.
  • Armorsmith Extended - nice armor crafting utility with more stuff.
  • Canary Save File Monitor - lets you know if your file is corrupting for any reason.
  • High FPS Physics Fix - also improves loading times on SSDs.
  • IDEK's Logistics Station - a secondary method of handling caravans that I like as a security blanket when SS2 just doesn't work.
  • Keep Radiants in the Commonwealth - keep your friends from handing out missions to Fah Habah or Nuka World? Yes, please!
  • Photo Mode - enables you to capture that perfect shot, not just a screengrab.
  • Appearance mods - CBBE, Looks Menu, KS Hairdos, Lots More Men's Hairstyles, etc
  • Snappy House Kit - makes building pieces snap to place like magic. Usually. Includes some snazzy furniture and other things.
  • Place Anywhere - very handy for when things just won't go where you want to make them.
  • W.E.T. - slightly cooler looking water effects.
  • Dialog enhancements - Immersive Generic Dialogue, Piper Cait Curie Dialogue Overhaul, Deeper Thoughts - Expressive Curie.
  • Equipment Crafting Overhaul - ECO - enables you to enhance a lot of gear, and as dangerous as the Wealth can be for you and your people, it's way useful.
  • Optimization Patches Installer - kind of the UFO4P for a number of mods I use.
  • There are also "previsibines" and lighting mods, but these are better looked at yourself to see if they suit your fancy.
Handy dandies
  • Superscrap - gives you more resources when you scrap items.
  • Buildable Barricades and Guard Posts - just what it says.
  • Advanced Settlement Turret Set - if you don't mind some overpowered defense when you want your settlements actually defended.
Minutemen
  • We Are The Minutemen - you get MM traveling out in the Wealth actually doing their jobs.
  • Militarized Minutemen - armed, armored and leveled to be on roughly equal footing to the baddies out there.
  • Minutemen Squads - small platoons of five which can be dispatched to defend settlements under attack, up to three of them. Doesn't work with SS2 attacks which are separate, for whatever reason, so the General still has some work to do.
Armor / clothing
  • MS Ranger Outfit - battle gear is pretty much self-explanatory.
  • Eli Armour Compendium - mostly clothes, but cool rugged clothes.
  • Mercenary - look like a merc.
  • The Rebel and The Rebel Tex-Edits Stand Alone Crafting - nice looking combat outfits that range from rugged to military.
  • Expanded Ballistic Weave - very helpful when your weapons do the kinds of damage they should. And people whine the guns are OP...
Weapons
  • Ruger Mini-14 - spawns a Mini-14 5.56mm rifle in the root cellar in Sanctuary, with 220 rounds of ammo to get you started. Useful as a combat rifle or sniper.
  • Bullpup Bozar - a cool combat rifle or sniper, adapted from the FONV sniper rifle.
  • Combat Rifle Overhaul - makes the Combat Rifle much cooler and useful. So forget the oversized Assault Power Tool.
  • FN FAL and Kukri - a very nice mostly-lore friendly and extremely useful 7.62 NATO combat rifle and sniper.
  • SREP Redux - the trusty M16 in several variations.
  • N99 10mm Pistol - straight from NV to the Commonwealth, because the vanilla 10mm pistol is an oversized piece of... furniture.
  • Colt 6502 10mm Pistol - which I use with the "mysterious" weapon replacer, so I never have to see the oversized piece of furniture again.
Goodies and guilty pleasures
  • Do Your Damn Job Codsworth - remakes Sanctuary Hills into a slightly damaged but splendid little village again. No shacks!
  • Homemaker - some modern home furnishings, as well as entire homes.
  • HZS Easy Homebuilder and Working Double Beds - more modern home crafting and furniture.
  • More Common Weather - because the weather in the Wealth blows. Make it even better in FO4Edit.
  • More Smarter Companions Mod - because they get senile after a few dozen updates and mods. It's not perfect, but what is?
  • Player Marriage - Marry Your Romanced Companion - because I'm a male chauvinist, but a romantic male chauvinist.
  • Companion Infinite Ammo - because sometimes when you give them a weapon, the poor things will run out for various reasons.
  • Gunner Armor Expansion and Gunner Outfit Pack - makes the Gunners an even bigger threat, but the loot is great.
  • Post-Apocalyptic Homemade Weapons Replacer - nice enhancement to the vanilla pipe guns. A separate file also improves the assault rifle.
  • Mk14 EBR - a nice M14 sniper and combat rifle in 7.62 NATO.
  • RU556 - a superb little M16-like combat rifle.
  • Mk18 CQBR - another M16 variation with lots of modability, and some good auxilary mods for it.
  • Combined Arms - a very good assortment of modern combat arms, including a couple of belt-fed machine guns.
  • Modern Firearms - some malign it, but it's got a sweet selection of modern combat arms. Hey, I admit I'm a gun nut.
I'm also a big fan of using the console on PC.

Spawndupe
Does the thought of crafting dozens and DOZENS of weapons and gear pieces wear you out? I'm here to save you from hours of wasted... hours. Make one or two items, go into a flat open area, drop an item, open the console, click on it so it turns green (or Pipboy/HUD color), and enter spawndupe a number of times, once for each copy. Keeping to 12 copies or so each time is advisable. Close the console and stand back, because copies can fly all over the place. If you can't highlight something, pick it up - don't store it - so it's hovering in front of you. Open the console and enter
  • getPlayerGrabbedRef - and copy down the eight character ref ID it spits out
  • prid (ref ID you copied) - the item should now highlight
  • spawndupe as many times as you want, 12-ish or so
Stuff, references, lots of info
If you need something in a pinch, like crops to feed the Quincy Five after you rescue them, head on over to the Fallout 4 Wiki online, specifically to the Console Commands page. You will find a treasure trove of console commands and cheats to get you through any tight situation. Commands to give yourself anything from tato to ammo can be found a bit past halfway down the page. Note that "bone" is needed for some crafting items, and can be hard to come by. Especially if you're like me and avoid using Human remains in crafting.

Protip: SS2 routinely breaks down for me in regard to available beds in settlements, crop levels, water, power, quite a few things. I can solve three issues, mostly two, by doing these:
  • Build your basic water pump if one isn't there
  • Open the console, highlight the pump
  • Enter setav 331 128 - or some integer value
  • Enter setav 332 128
  • Click on it again so it isn't highlighted and close the console
  • The pump will now produce 128 units of food and water like magic, that SS2 can't muck up
  • Build a fusion reactor, when you can
  • Open the console, highlight the reactor
  • Enter setav 32e 1100 - or whatever power value you want to produce, it will add to the reactor's 100 units
  • Deselect, close console, and enjoy an abundance of power
I'm sad to see that The Bone Zone is no longer available on Nexusmods. It vanished in my mod list when I disabled it for this playthrough. It was a zany remote dungeon that someone set up, populated with a number of figureheads in the FO4 community, from reviewers to modders, as drug addicted, alcoholic cannibal Raiders, armed with the best weapons in your playthrough. Most wore amusing masks. And they were tough and mean! But man, the loot you could get if you survived was so worth it, even if you had to crawl back to Sanctuary. I'm so sad now, I... I need a moment... :blum

I have actually been using Liberty reborn for the MM upgrade and You and what Army for patrols. This one does work with the SS2 attacks, I just have to be careful how many patrols I have, which I have learned how to set, because I had somewhere between 50 and 100 showing up at some places, now it's only 10 or so. Sometimes when defending the settlement they will accidently injure a settler and all hell breaks loose with them fighting each other. That's when I run.
I have the Doombased and AK74m as weapon mods, the AK74M isn't all that great but you do get the Frontliner 404 which is a sweet little gun.
I will try out some of these, between you and Skywise001, I am going to be very busy.
Thank you for taking your time to share. And my condolences on the Bone Zone, I know something like that can be very traumatic:wink.

Ive looked around and I can only find a single mention of the mod. <.<

I like to see mods that 'liven' up the Commonwealth... like where setters have taken up 'shop' at different churches each with different 'looks' on the world- where some justify violence and others always zen. Each with quests to let's say take a church from enemies, or even remove setters(bad karma kindof thing) so others can move in. Just little things like that.

I figure in a post-accolyptic era there would be those that would blame the actions of others as the root cause of the destruction and continue... like those atom zealots near the lighthouse.

I have found that I like adding factions and creatures so I have more to kill. Mutant Menagerie has been fun, but the spider things give me the creeps. Also, any DLC type mods. I just came across Point Outlook and am looking forward to playing that one. A couple of Favs are Lima Detachment and Sector Five and Barrenwood. If you like building settlements Barrenwood has lots of room to build.
I haven't seen any mods such as you describe above, are those new settlement type mods with quests?
I was limited to what was on Beth for so long, I'm kind of behind the eight ball on what's out there.

Me too. I've added all kinds of different creatures in my current load order, including MM, though the animations are sortof janky at times and boom bugs scuttle across the ground if they don't explode on death. :lol
just came across Point Outlook
I haven't tried that one, but did check out New Vegas in Fallout 4. I liked the look and design, but it wasn't complete enough to leave it in.

Not yet, those are some mods I'd love to see. Small modular mods that add a bit of life here, and there. Something to 'connect' to the environment as I travel through the Commonwealth and tie all the different areas together with npcs rather than have npcs just filler for the area.

Point Lookout is a super cool mod. I also love it adds a ton of FO3 stuff to its archive - like the backpack FO3 Minigun - you can even get Eugine.

I dont think Ive tried Barrenwood. I'll have to check it out.

A couple of shockingly under played dungeon mods are 'BarbaricFallout' - Mini dungeon to introduce some skyrim gear converted. The author went on to make 'A Strange Calling'. Sadly they dont work with XDI (The final boss has unique dialog XDI doesnt play nice with so one question only has 3 answers and closes the conversation). Strange Calling adds weapons and equipment that are quite cool. Id suggest trying to honestly beat the Dungeon at least once. The trapwork is amazing and genuinely creepy. In the Screenshots I had a look of a skeleton - that suit comes from this mod. Ive played and replayed the mod for 4 years or so to me its that good :D
If you try it and have trouble I might be able to answer you. Ive probably faced that problem at some point :D

If you like I can give you a list of a few to check out and / or look at when your feeling like having some fun. There are mods based off Alien, Starcraft, HALO, My Little Pony, and more. Right now the 40k Sister of Battle mod has me lovin' it. You have a brief adventure then get nice sword, bolter pistol and rifle, and of course the neat looking armor.

Remember to have fun :D

and

Arachnophobia patches cause spiders creep me right the hell out :D

Ask and you shall recieve :D

Oh! One mod I just overlook cause its in every game is the "Car Physics Deathbug Fix" so if you brush a parked car you wont suddenly die.

That would be great. Isn't this all about having fun? If not, then I am doing something wrong. :grin I may have to try out "A Strange Calling", it sounds intriguing.

I am probably going to jinx myself, but I have never had that happen in a game. I didn't even know it was a problem until I read some posts about it. Now watch, after saying that, the first time I go near a parked car I'm going to DIE.

Also, the turkeys keep moving even after you shoot them. Most times I think I missed, but then find the carcass. I did discover that you never want to drop any feathers from your inventory. I did that once and they just float in the air, and you can't scrap them or pick them back up. Those leeches can be pretty hard to kill, I saw one take on a deathclaw and win.

saw one take on a deathclaw and win
:shok1 ... I've yet to see that one! Though a maggot that dropped from a diseased ghoul was def a bullet sponge. I love the different synths with Synthetic Variations. I like having synth children from the Institute running around like lil' hostile coursers(the last one, with me beginning a new game, was packing a rocket launcher!)... and the ghoul kids which are hostile also which I believe is Children of Fallout. I've had a mod that makes some children run and cower before an attack to try and preserve some. Those rattlers are crazy fast!!!

Mods we really need:

People of the Commonwealth - different types of people in an environment(cell) that matches their character. with voice acting and some quests to help tie the different parts of Fallout together.
Families of the Commonwealth - church, family of note, mobsters, and notable ones with the same tie in as PotC.

I see it

a lot in companions. They brush the car make a hurt noise and fallover demanding a stoimpack to get up and keep walking. I think its a scam. <.<

The entrance is just north of 111 so its pretty convenient - Her BarbaricFallout is inside the fenc around 111.

If you need help with the puzzles I will. Ive not beat them all but Ill try to help. Be wary of doing it with too many buffed enemies. In addition to humanoid you have synths, animals (Inc Deathclaw), Mirelurks. I forgot and left my zombie mods and I didnt get far before a massive wave of tough ghouls trapped me :P

A Strange Calling Is here.

The end boss fight is one of the best. Easy to learn hard to master :D
